Well it(self care) means that we’re able to bring our entire selves into the movement. It means that we incorporate into our work as activists, ways of acknowledging and hopefully also moving beyond trauma.

ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

As a therapist, I practice a person-centered, social justice-informed approach that employs Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy tools/techniques. As a therapist, I practice a person-centered, social justice-informed approach that employs Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy tools/techniques. I am trained in Internal Family Systems(level 1), and I am using it dominantly, because of how it tries to understand and have compassion for all of our parts. I want to meet you where you are. I would like to help you employ your strengths to get what you want. I would like to help you find tools and knowledge of basic neurology to change thoughts, if you choose to. I like to work to give people therapy in a way that feels right but also pushes you to lean into some discomfort. As a proud bisexual, trans man, I love to work with my LGBTQIA communities. I celebrate kinky and poly people. I strive to be an imperfect ally to non-binary trans people and people of color.

LGBTQIA+ Anxiety and Trauma Support Group

Please take a moment to email the information from this form to Charlie@CharlieJOTherapy.com. There is no cost, but I do limit group size and I want to make sure it's a good fit.

We, as LGBTQIA2S individuals, are more at risk for anxiety and other mental
health concerns due trauma and other experiences of bias and prejudice
from homophobia and transphobia, as well living in a society that assumes
and values heterosexuality and cisgender more. This group will work on skills
to handle anxiety, both generally and specific to lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender, queer, intersex, asexual and 2-spirit communities. Members will
also be able to share their own coping skills and process their own
experiences. The basic format will be a skill share, followed by open, facilitated discussion.
